a selection of e-tools

Following is a selection of e-tools that were discussed in "class" and that may be useful either at home or at work:

  • http://prezi.com - to create "game-changing" presentations (Lecturing, real estate?)
  • www.protopage.com - Protopage is your own personal page which you can access from any personal computer or mobile phone.  Use it to read your own selection of news and blogs, keep bookmarks, to do lists, sticky notes .....  (personal, can you create this page for use by a group - e.g. tutoring group?)
  • www.podomatic.com/login - for making podcasts.  Can also make minicast that combines photos with music in the form of a slideshow. (family, conferences)
  • http://voicethread.com - group conversations are collected and shared in one place from anywhere in the world.  A voicethread is a collaborative, multimedia slideshow that holds images, documents and videos and allows people to navigate slides and leave comments. (personal, lecturing?)
  • www.picnik.com - photoediting tool (no download required)
  • www.maflt.org/products/poodle - portable moodle without an internet connection.  Moodle is mounted on a portable device (e.g. USB sticks, memory cards, HDDs) (Cecchetti lecturing)
  • www.mishme.com/Default.aspx - applications and services that allow any user to create avators and animated avator based content simply and easily across platforms and the web (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instant Messaging ...)  (fun personal tool - and won't the kids love it ....)
  • www.polleverywhere.com - the easiest way to gather live responses in any venue using Twitter, texting or web.
  • http://photobucket.com - the place to store, create and share your photos for life. (personal)
  • http://bestwebquests.com - activities not based on acquiring knowledge but more on problems solving to further their understanding of a topic.  This site also has a fantastic list of "links" to other sites.
  • www.bloglines.com - free online service that helps you subscribe to and manage lots of information including news feeds, weblogs and audio.Bloglines tracks the information you are interested in, retrieves new stuff as it happens, and organises everything for you on your own personal web news page.
  • www.readability.com - a web and mobile app.  Turns any web page into a comfortable reading view and right in your web browser and also makes it simple to save these articles for reading later.  Also, a portion of your subscription goes to the creators of the article!
  • http://ping.fm/dashboard - a simple and free service that helps make updating your social networks a snap

  1. Wow Anita you have been very busy with your blog postings. What a great idea of posting all the terms and tool in your blog. Keep up the great work ;-).
Can I make one suggestion though? Have you thought about linking the tools to the appropriate website or was this just a time issue?
